Oberon Highland Steam & Vintage Fair - February 2012

P1010039 1280x709On Saturday, 11 February, the run from Western Sydney to Oberon via Bells Line was grey and drizzly.  Upon reaching Hartley the sun shone brilliantly through a cloudless sky and remained so for most of the morning.

P1010046 1280x670The street parade started right on 10 am in the usual manner with two scottish pipe bandds leading, one from each end of the main street.  The spectator crowd and exhibitor numbers were down on last years.

At the sports ground there were a variety of trucks, cars, tractors, steam traction engines and stationary engines on exhibit.  It was very soggy underfoot and more so after the lunch time storm which dumped rain and hail, and sent people scurrying for whatever cover they could find.

WSHTC was represented by Ron Ross, Garry Schroder, Andy and Anne Nash, and Mike and Jann Dodds.  Andy brought a few of his toys from work...  the "Quarter Pounder" a mini tow truck that wants to be one tonner when it grows up.  And a semi-trailer that was left out in the recent rains and had shrunk to mini size.
